Star Wars: 10 Awkward Prequel Moments Fans Will Never Forget
4. Jar Jar Binks
Jar Jar Binks went from a character made to appeal to younger audiences who needed their own version of C3P0 to create comedic moments and became the most hated character ever in the Star Wars galaxy.
A character that was made simply for comedic moments directed at younger audiences in a film series that didn't really need his kind of comedic side character. There was also a slew of accusations that Jar Jar Binks was simply a way of having a racist depiction of African peoples in Star Wars.
The actor himself has had to deal with massive psychological trauma and suicidal thoughts due to the massive backlash of Jar Jar Binks, most of which came almost entirely from adult fans of the original trilogy that used Jar Jar Binks as the center of what was wrong with the prequels
Aside from saving R2D2 from being killed in a suicidal escape run at the beginning of Phantom Menace, Jar Jar has been nothing more than an actual menace to the other characters of the film due to his clumsiness and even somehow showing up as a senator in the rest of the prequels
And arguably the worst crime Jar Jar Binks ever committed in the prequels was literally being told to give Chancellor Palpatine the remaining power he needed to become the emperor and kill all the Jedi, earning a fan theory years later that Jar Jar was actually a sith lord pretending to be an idiot.
