Star Wars: 10 Expanded Universe Stories They Should Definitely Adapt

8. New Jedi Order Series

A lengthy series containing nearly twenty entries, the New Jedi Order shows the effects of an invasion of the galaxy by the Yuuzhan Vong, aliens from outside the galaxy. The war envelopes the entire galaxy as worlds like Coruscant and Ithor are captured or destroyed. If streamlined into a series of films, the series would take Star Wars down dark roads as the series is not afraid of killing off major characters or destroying locations that were long considered safe by the audience. The series would introduce the Yuuzhan Vong, a species of aliens who genetically engineer an army of biological weapons that wreak havoc on the New Republic. The Yuuzhan Vong also consider pain to be among the purest sensations one can feel, which made them predisposed to be near unstoppable warriors. The series would also introduce the rebuilt Jedi Order and find Republic and Imperial militaries fighting side by side against a common enemy which would be a sight to behold. The scale of these films would be unparalleled as the war envelopes the entire galaxy, with some of the battles featuring thousands of capitol ships and with entire planets occasionally destroyed or damaged beyond repair. If done the right way (the series strays into weird and often ridiculous territory), the New Jedi Order could be an extremely effective way to present Star Wars in a different way then previously done.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
