Star Wars spin-off movies dont just have to bounce off from the original movies, they could instead focus on characters introduced in The Force Awakens and the films that follow it. And, of the central new characters, Oscar Isaacs Poe Dameron is the one that fans know the least about. It's known that Poe is considered the best pilot in the Resistance and, thanks to the tie-in comics, that hes the son of two members of the Rebel Alliance that were friends with Luke Skywalker and raised him in Yavin IV after the Battle of Endor. That leaves plenty of room for a spin-off to explore. While Oscar Isaac is still going to be developing Poe in upcoming films, itd be interesting to see him spin out into his own movie either set before The Force Awakens or between upcoming movies like Episode VIII and Episode IX. Neither would be too hard to set up. All the writers need to do is send Poe on a mission, and then have everything go wrong. Maybe he has to hide out on a First Order-occupied planet when his ship crashes, and ends up having to scuttle around Die Hard-style to bring down the local bad guys, before winding up in a big space battle at the end. Id certainly watch that.
