Star Wars: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Darth Vader's Suit

We've safely established that Vader's suit is a remarkable piece of engineering, despite a few minor flaws and setbacks. But one important question remains: does it help him go to the toilet? Can Vader even go to the toilet?

As you might expect, there's no official line from Disney/Lucasfilm regarding this matter, probably because "does Vader have a d*ck?" isn't a question that promotes Star Wars as the family-friendly brand they want it to be.

However, there are several important nods that do point to a stone-cold answer.

For one, the novelisation of Revenge Of The Sith mentions that - after his duel with Obi-Wan - Anakin suffered the worst of his burns on the lower half of his body. This could be hinting at his loss of genitals without explicitly saying as much, and since he's pretty badly burnt all over, the fact that the worst of it is below the torso must mean the damage was immense.

But something close to confirmation actually came from Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo, the man responsible for maintaining Star Wars canon. In response to a fan on Twitter (who asked how Vader goes to the bathroom) Hidalgo had this to say:

"You didn't hear it from me, but I think the relevant anatomy got burned off and Vader relies on the suit"

Now we know what that huge "NOOOOOOOOO!" was all about...

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
