Star Wars: 10 Weird Expanded Universe Things We're Glad Aren't Canon Anymore
3. Beldorion The Hutt Jedi
Characters like Plo Koon and Kit Fisto may seem like dubious inductees into the order of the Jedi, but they pale in comparison to Beldorion the Hutt, a Jedi Knight and likely the most embarrassing aspect of the Jedi order save for their near extermination at the hands of Darth Sidious.
Beldorion the Hutt was a Force sensitive Hutt from Nal Hutta who was taken as a Jedi Padawan sometime around 400 BBY. Eventually graduating to the rank of Jedi Knight, Beldorion was corrupted by the Dark Side of the Force during a mission on the planet Nam Chorios over which he proceeded to rule for many years. Renouncing his position as a Jedi, he enslaved much of the planet's population and lived in decadence for many years.
Surviving Order 66, Beldorion was eventually brought to the attention of Luke Skywalker, who, along with his sister Leia Organa, traveled to the planet to end his reign. Initially captured by the Hutt's followers, Leia was able to free herself and defeat Beldorion in a lightsaber duel. All of this would make for some awesome fan fiction were the antagonist not a giant space slug.
