Star Wars: 20 Worst Franchise Moments (So Far)
9. Padme Brushing Her Hair
Film: Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Revenge of the Sith is usually seen as the best of the prequels, but nowadays it feels more on the same level of the other prequels. It makes many of the same mistakes and neither the dialogue nor Anakin and Padme improved.
The scenes with Anakin and Padme were just as annoying as before. While it's the infamous line "Hold me like you did on that lake by Naboo... when there was nothing but our love" is the one which gets the most flak, this typically cringe-worthy romantic scene is ten times worse.
Anakin: "You are so... beautiful."
Padme: "It's only because I'm so in love."
Anakin: "No, it's because I'm so in love with you."
Padme: "So love has blinded you?"
Anakin: "[laughs] Well, that's not exactly what I meant."
Padme: "But it's probably true."
If you read that without cringing, you deserve a medal.
The scene which immediately follows is Anakin's disturbing nightmare about Padme dying in childbirth. It says a lot about how awful the dialogue is in this scene that this horrifying premonition is far easier to watch than this supposedly romantic conversation.
