Star Wars: 20 Worst Franchise Moments (So Far)

10. Leia Poppins

Star Wars The Last Jedi Trailer General Leia

Film: Star Wars: The Last Jedi

The backlash to The Last Jedi has been excessive but online haters have made a few valid points. No film is perfect and there are criticisms of TLJ which can't be ignored, with the painfully misjudged scene that is now known as 'Leia Poppins' leaping to mind.

It was an interesting idea to explore Leia's Force powers, but it was introduced far too abruptly given that it's never been discussed before. The scene featuring her force powers was painfully misjudged on every level and even the people who love the film (like this writer) will probably hate this scene.

Leia floating through space is unintentionally hilarious, while it's also one of the most illogical and unrealistic scenes in a franchise not exactly known for realism. No force-sensitive being, not even a Jedi Master, has ever been able to fly through space like this using the force so the idea that someone as inexperienced as Leia would be able to do this is simply ridiculous.

Much like Finn and Rose's kiss, this felt ridiculously silly and while TLJ was mostly a great send-off to the much-missed Carrie Fisher, it's a shame she was involved in this scene.
