Star Wars: 20 Worst Franchise Moments (So Far)
13. The Kessel Run
Film: Solo: A Star Wars Story
The bitterly disappointing Solo is easily the worst live-action Star Wars film to date; a charmless, boring, and action-free flick that will anger fans even more than The Last Jedi. It's difficult to highlight any bad moments from it given that there are so many.
Qi'ra's sudden betrayal, Thandie Newton and Jon Favreau being killed off after 10 minutes and the pointless scene in which the meaning of Han's name is revealed are all enormously jarring, but none of those are quite as annoying as how much of a let-down the film's most anticipated moment - the Kessel Run - is.
The Kessel Run comes down to a bland action sequence with the Falcon flying through lots of gas clouds and encountering Imperial TIE Fighters, asteroids and some random giant space monster. There's no tension to this sequence and it doesn't add anything to the characters or plot, making you wonder why the whole Kessel Run thing was always hyped up.
This entire sequence, with its flat visuals, weightless dialogue, and utter lack of memorability is a huge let-down in every way and one of the worst Star Wars action scenes ever.
