Star Wars: 5 Awesome Reveals From The Disney D23 Expo (And 2 That Are Worrying)
1. Mads Mikkelsen Is Going To Be In Star Wars
That picture wasn't the only thing to come out of D23 about Rouge One, and if anything this was more exciting. Who exactly is starring in the first Star Wars Story (looks like they've dropped the somewhat nonsensical Anthology moniker) has been left to the rumour mill, but now we know all the key players - on top of revealing those in the new photo, Forest Whitaker, Ben Mendelsohn and Alan Tudyk were all confirmed for the film. The former two had been rumoured for a while, but Tudyk came pretty out of left field, as does the fact he's playing a motion-capture character. But forget the Oscar winner, the immersive character actor and Wash - there was another person announced who was even more exciting. That's right - Mads Mikkelsen is coming to Star Wars. MADS FREAKING MIKKELSEN. Even moreso than bringing back the original trio, casting relative unknowns as the leads and tossing in Andy Serkis for The Force Awakens and making long-rising star Felicity Jones the centre of Rogue One, this is without question the greatest casting in the entire Disney-era of Star Wars. Mikkelsen's shown incredible aptitude in picking films, with a buffet of great indie roles complimented by Casino Royale and a legacy redefining turn in Hannibal, which puts great stock in Rogue One - if he's signed on, it must be something special. Who's he going to play? I don't care - it's MADS MIKKELSEN. He can be playing Jar Jar's son and I'd still be giddy with excitement.
