The Theory

Forget "Luke, I am your father". We could be about to witness an "I am your grandfather" moment in The Last Jedi, if a reports of a script leak are to be believed.

As the Express points out, the script leak depicts a meeting between Snoke and Luke Skywalker in which the villain hints that he has met the Jedi's father.

“After all, what father doesn’t see his own creation,” he says.

These reports have lead to fervent fan speculation that Snoke is Darth Vader's father and therefore Luke's grandfather.

How Credible Is It?

Search your feelings, you know it to be false.

Let's assume for a second that the script leak is genuine, we learned that Vader has no father in The Phantom Menace when his mother Schmi Skywalker alludes to him being conceived via Midi-chlorians.

However dumb this sounds, George Lucas dubbed it Star Wars canon, so don't expect Last Jedi or any further Star Wars sequels to ignore or retcon this explanation.

Some fans have pointed out that Snoke being Vader's grandfather adds credence to the Darth Plagueis theory, given that the mysterious Sith had the ability to manipulate Midi-chlorians; but we've already established that he's most likely brown bread.

As we've said already, there's an important link between Vader and Snoke that's yet to be revealed, but a literal familial connection it is not.
