Star Wars: 8 Things That The Sequel Trilogy Got RIGHT

4. Great Pacing

Star Wars The Force Awakens Kylo Ren Rey
Lucasfilm

One thing that nobody can accuse the sequel trilogy of is being boring.

The very first entry in the series begins in media res with resistance hero Poe Dameron being captured by the sinister and powerful new villain Kylo Ren, instantly putting us right on the edge of our seats. The Last Jedi too begins with an epic space battle, while The Rise of Skywalker drops you right into our heroes caught in a thrilling chase with the First Order.

From their opening scenes, all of these movies grip you tight and refuse to let you go as they take you on thrill rides across the galaxy. The number of worlds visited, adventures undertaken, and new characters met in each instalment is simply staggering and makes this wonderful universe feel even bigger.

A common criticism of the prequels is that quieter dialogue scenes often felt like the entire film was grinding to a halt for a few minutes. The sequel trilogy deftly weaves these character moments throughout, ensuring that the audience doesn’t want to look away for a single second.

Owen Davies hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
