Star Wars: 9 Burning Questions About Lando's Return In Episode IX
2. Will He Be Reunited With Nien Nunb?
The big question on everyone's mind: will Nien Nunb finally get his moment in the spotlight?
Nien Nunb made his film debut in Return of the Jedi, in which he got to fly as Lando's co-pilot aboard the Millenium Falcon as they destroyed the second Death Star together. Despite Lando's absence in Force Awakens and Last Jedi, Nunb was fairly prominently featured in both.
He was an early member of the Resistance and has only continued to show why he deserves to be honored as a hero. In Force Awakens, he flew an X-Wing during the Battle of Starkiller Base, assisting Poe Dameron in disabling the Thermal Oscillator and destroying the base, being only one of seven X-Wing pilots who survived the battle. In Last Jedi, he assisted in the evacuation from D'Qar, lent a listening ear to the struggling Poe Dameron, and remained one of the few living pilots at the end of the film.
With Lando returning, it only seems fair that he and Nien Nunb should have a big romantic reunion and Nunb finally get to deliver that five-minute monologue audiences have been waiting for.
Move over Poe Dameron, the Resistance has a new hero.
