5. Lando Returns?
One of the biggest omissions from the sequel trilogy so far has been Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. A true presence on the screen and a legendary character, and yet he has not even been mentioned in the films.
Lando was last seen in heroic form helping the Rebels defeat the Empire in Return of the Jedi, so it would be a great return for the character to help take down the First Order. Could he be located at one of the outer rim sympathisers who failed to answer the Resistance's call for help? If so he may be in for an earful.
With Leia presumably having a limited role in Episode IX, giving Lando centre stage in the Resistance would be a very fitting substitute that fans would love. Also, his reaction to the death of so many major characters including Han (should he not already know) would be heart-breaking and would certainly explain why Lando suddenly returns to the fight.
