Star Wars: Episode 8 - 10 Major Twists That Could Shake The Galaxy

2. Kylo Ren Is Killed

€˜Did you really think he€™d kill Han?€™, €˜Weren€™t his tantrums awesome?€™, €˜Isn€™t it sweet that he was named after Ben?€™ and so forth - Adam Driver's Kylo Ren was one of main talking points after Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out. It€™d be a hell of shock, then, if this popular discussion point of a character wound up dead in the next film.

This twist would arguably have a huge impact, if it turns out to be true. Audience predictions about the overarching narrative of the new trilogy would all need to be rejigged as a result. Fans that are currently expecting Kylo to be a three-film villain who may or may not be redeemed in the end, would have to take their ideas back to the drawing board if Rian Johnson and Lucasfilm chose to really mix things up by killing him off in Episode VIII.

This would mean that Supreme Leader Snoke would have to get his own hands dirty in Episode IX or find a new apprentice (could he turn Rey to the Dark Side?). This would make it harder to predict how Episode IX will end €“ which is no bad thing - as well as making the new trilogy less similar to the originals (hitting back at those 'it's just A New Hope rebooted criticisms levelled at The Force Awakens).

But who would kill Kylo? Maybe Luke Skywalker would do it, in a situation with no other alternative, having realised that he€™s accidentally helped to create an irredeemable monster. This one's a long shot, it must be said, but few potential twists would have the impact of killing off Kylo Ren.
