Star Wars: Episode 8 - 10 Major Twists That Could Shake The Galaxy

3. Darth Vader Wasn€™t Redeemed After All

Darth Vader€™s redemption at the end of Return Of The Jedi was a crucial moment in Star Wars history. It proved that good could overcome evil, that the Jedi could defeat the Sith and that the bonds of familial love were stronger than the lure of the Dark Side. It€™d be a huge twist €“ for the characters, and for the fans €“ if this all turned out to be totally untrue.

Lucasfilm already considered taking this route in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with concept art pointing towards an Anakin Skywalker Force ghost that resembled the evil Darth Vader rather than the brown-robed peaceful version of the character. This idea seeped into the film in a small way, with Kylo Ren at one stage seemingly begging his grandfather to show him €˜the power of the darkness€™ so he could finish what Vader started.

Perhaps Star Wars: Episode VIII will run with this idea, and display outright a version of Anakin€™s ghost that has returned to his earlier evildoing ways. Maybe Vader€™s ghost will be in cahoots with Snoke and aiding to train Kylo, acting as the evil equivalent of the Obi-Wan ghost that guided Luke back in The Empire Strikes Back. It€™d be a big twist and a touch of dark symmetry, then.
