Star Wars Episode 8: 6 Major Details Lucasfilm Just Revealed

6. No More #WheresLuke

In the very first piece of Episode VIII footage Lucasfilm have essentially put to bed the thing that absolutely dominated the build-up to The Force Awakens' release; yup, there's Luke. Although his complete absence from the marketing was a big clue, it only really became apparent in the very last moments of The Force Awakens that Disney had been playing the really long game, spending an entire movie building to the reintroduction of Luke Skywalker. You can bet Mark Hamill, super nice guy and general fanboy that he is, was totally on board with this, loving how much the #WheresLuke bandwagon messed with everyone and, above all, knowing he'd get some major payoff in the sequels. I can't wait to see where they take the Jedi Master - I said this when the film came out, but Hamill looks great as the older Luke, carrying so much pain and mystery behind those eyes - and having him lead the focus for Episode VIII is definitely an exciting start; it not only acts as the least spoiler-y introduction to the movie (of course we were going to revisit Ahch-To), but also reaffirms how important Skywalker will be going forward.
