Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Things Everybody Missed In The Trailer
8. The Pod Racer
Here's the biggie - the one few people have been talking about, yet says an awful lot about how all-encompassing J.J. Abrams' approach to the galaxy far far away will be. Plenty of people have commented on how it looks like podracing has been locked away - an key element of pre-millennium Star Wars, appearing for an over-long stretch of The Phantom Menace (and a brief cameo in Attack Of The Clones), forgotten in favour of actual action. But judging from the trailer that doesn't seem to be the case. Behind the rolling astromech droid a podracer engine can be distinctly seen. Obviously this doesn't mean there's going to any actual racing, but clearly The Force Awakens isn't going to pretend the prequels don't exist. Watto's shop in The Phantom Menace offered up a plethora of easter eggs (there's a pod from 2001: A Space Odyssey in there) and no doubt this newer junkyard will do the same.
