Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker - Everything It Gets Wrong
10. Chewbacca's Forced Mourning Scene
"He didn't do it in Force Awakens, so I guess we do it now?"
That seemed to be the mandate for Chewbacca's "reaction to Leia" scene, as scores of fans complained that we never saw Chewie's "real reaction" to losing Han in The Force Awakens, so here he was going to act even more OTT, just to hammer it home.
Sadly though, after Leia randomly dying comes out of nowhere, it leads to Chewie losing himself over what should've been the most emotional moment in Star Wars history.
Instead, because of the forever rushed feeling that pervades the movie, Leia passes away and we immediately cut to Chewie being informed, only for him to throw his arms around, drop to his knees, pound the ground and be distraught.
The camera lingers throughout as if to say, "Is this right? Did we get it?? Is this enough?!"
