Star Wars: Rogue One - 10 Crazy Rumours You Should Definitely Believe
9. There'll Be A Rebels Crossover
There's a simple genius to Star Wars: Rebels, Disney XD's cartoon that bridges the gap between the prequels and the Original Trilogy. It's got The Clone Wars' cartoonish style and a colourful set of characters that obviously appeals to the kid target audience, but in setting it only five years before A New Hope and invoking a very seventies vibe in the visual design, it's managed to draw in a sizeable contingent of serious (and often more critical) Star Wars fans. By the time Rogue One hits, Rebels will be half-way through its third season (there's no way the show will get cancelled before then either) and a well established part of the Star Wars canon. Given that there's rumours The Force Awakens, which is set decades later, may have some link to the series, it's impossible to think there won't be a few easter eggs, and maybe even a character, from Rebels in Rogue One. They have a very similar subject matter, after all. But it could conceivably go further than that. Just like Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. was impacted by the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Rebels will probably be impacted by Rogue One. And, as it's animated and thus not restricted by A-list star's contracts, this could stretch to a full-on crossover event episode, with both sets of rebellious characters meeting. With Obi-Wan, Yoda, R2-D2, C-3PO and Lando having all popped up in the first season, it's not that much of a stretch.
