Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Major Questions We Still Have
6. Where Is Mads Mikkelsen? (Again)
"Where is Mads?" we all screamed at our screens. Galen Erso is set to be this film's tragic anti-hero, and Mikkelsen finally got some screen time in the final trailer. The presumed flashback of Jyn's childhood and parting ways with her father set up the convenient story that Galen is rotting away in some Imperial cell somewhere. However, with both the rebellion (and it looks like The Empire) searching for Galen, did Mads manage to escape his manacles like his daughter?
It is very unlike the 50-year-old Dane to play a hero character, but we are more than ready to see him ditch his villain status. Mikkelsen told GQ that we will probably get to see more of his character than we first thought - it isn't a case of bang, and off goes daddy.
"I worked with Jyn at three stages, and three different ages, so there was a little kid that was four, one that was eight, and then there was Felicity."
It now looks like Mr. Erso is the top of everyone's list in a Where's Wally style hunt. Mikkelsen could just be used "sparingly" (there are those words again), but chances are he is up to something bigger.
The vast array of planets shown imply that all sides will be exploring possible locations of Galen. Just as the scattered forces look for Luke in The Force Awakens, Galen is probably hauled up on a rock in Ireland. Look for a triumphant reappearance at the end, as Galen clearly has something to do with those Death Star plans.
