Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Major Questions We Still Have
5. Why Is Jyn In Jail?
It may be easy to paint Felicity Jones's Jyn as an innocent prisoner of war who was captured by the Empire, but being recruited by the rebels, it looks like Jyn is on no one's side.
She's an archetypal bad-girl loner. After a (very) brief flashback to a troubled childhood Jyn wakes up in an Imperial jail; quite how long she has been there, and for what reason, we don't know, but the best guess is that Jyn continued to try and avenge her father's capture, which would lead to many a run in with Stormtroopers and undesirables.
No she isn't Rey's mother, but following in the footsteps of Daisy Ridley, Jyn is angry woman. The Jyn we meet in the trailers has a hardened criminal edge, suggesting that it was more than stealing Fromirian roast queg that landed her behind bars. Where her incarceration takes place another good point, but it looks like it isn't long before the Rebellion break her free.
It's hard to resist the assumption that Jyn's prison break will fall in the first quarter of the film and bring together our cast in the first big battle scene.
