Star Wars: Rogue One - 10 Most Hotly Anticipated Moments

3. Seeing The Death Star In Action

Star Wars Rogue One Death Star
Lucasfilm

For all the chat in the original trilogy about how much of an enormous threat the Death Star is, we don't actually see that threat in action very often. Sure, we see Alderaan being blown to pieces in front of Princess Leia's eyes, but after that, well...it doesn't really do very much (I'm including Death Star 2: This Time It's Personal in that assessment too).

Besides, limited effects back then meant Lucas couldn't really do a whole lot to show Alderaan's destruction in any real detail. In Rogue One, however, the Death Star will undoubtedly establish its threat in an enormous way. Based on the trailers, we're going to see at least one planet get annihilated by the Death Star, and this time it's going to be up close and personal.

Seeing the Death Star as a much more active threat in Rogue One will have the knock-on effect of making its appearance in A New Hope considerably more sinister.
