Star Wars Rogue One: 12 Most Awesome Moments

4. The Death Star's Weakness Explained

The weakness of the Death Star in the original movie is a fairly glaring design flaw, and you’d think the architect might have questioned the logic of having an exhaust port that could lead to the destruction of the entire base. Plus it took like twenty years to finish, so he can’t have been great at his job.

Rogue One explains away all those complaints, with Death Star designer Galen Erso explaining he wasn’t exactly thrilled with the idea of building a planet destroying weapon, and intentionally created the flaw so rebels could exploit it. He also admits to dragging his feet in a major way during development, which is why it took so long.

Sure it’s just retroactively covering an old plothole, but it’s nice they directly address it.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
