3. High-Tech Podracers?
With the exception of the Millennium Falcon and and a few retro rebel fighters from the original films, there's no word on what other starships, if any, will be returning in The Force Awakens. A large amount of photos and concept art depict various different Imperial fighters in various states of decay, but that's really where the familiarity ends. The image above is just one of many that shows off some new tech that may be appearing in the film, and this particular cruiser looks to be pretty damn fast. Now this is a huge speculation, but could this speeder-esque craft be some kind of newfangled pod-racer? The Phantom Menace may be despised by many Star Wars fans as being the worst film of the prequels, but there's no denying that the pod-race scene was the highlight of an otherwise non-eventful film. Sure, it may have taken up more of the film's running time than it perhaps should have, but a homage to it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, would it? After all, there was one hidden in the trailer.
