It seems that Rey will co-pilot with both Han Solo and Chewbacca at various points in the film. This would appear to be the same rig as was set up in the outdoor sequence (without the IMAX cameras and the movement), so perhaps it wasn't an AT-AT, but that movement really is confusing in that case.

Since Finn is also there, this feels like it's just a promotional shot for the Vanity Fair shoot (minus Chewy from the background). And you'd imagine that JJ Abrams did set those shots up to be precisely what he wanted, so the right message was published.
