Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Power Ranking Every Character
9. Chewbacca
There's an odd correlation in the Star Wars franchise between fur and physical power: that can be the only justification for the significance of the Ewoks, who would otherwise have been classed as no more than intergalactic Care Bears without their unfeasible military prowess. It's very much a similar story for Chewbacca, though there were never any suggestions that he wasn't a fearsome warrior thanks to his stature. Like Solo and Poe, he lacks magical augmentation, but he more than makes up for the fact by basically being the Star Wars universe's version of The Hulk. There might be a few more silver hairs in his coat (though he doesn't actually appear to have aged at all in the 30 years since Return Of The Jedi), but there won't be any compromise in his strength or his aggression. Added to those virtues, his ability as a co-pilot shouldn't be ignored either (the hand-chosen companion of the best pilot ever is pretty heady endorsement). So while he's not a flashy team member, Chewy is still a valuable blunt object, battle-hardened and hugely experienced. Which makes the fact that apparently ends up getting captured all the more confusing.
