Mark Hamill has pretty strong feelings on Star Wars and especially the character of Luke Skywalker, given that they've been a part of his life for 40 years, and as such doesn't always agree with the directions taken.

It's previously been widely reported that he had a different idea to J.J. Abrams on how to reintroduce Luke, with Hamill wanting his character to be present for the death of Han Solo, or be the one to pull the saber out of the snow. That's continued into The Last Jedi apparently, with Hamill again elaborating on a difference of opinion:

"Likewise, after reading Rian Johnson’s script for The Last Jedi, Hamill said, “I at one point had to say to Rian, ‘I pretty much fundamentally disagree with every choice you’ve made for this character. Now, having said that, I have gotten it off my chest, and my job now is to take what you’ve created and do my best to realise your vision.’"

Hamill does go on to say he has the utmost respect for Johnson, and that he himself has lots of terrible ideas, but it's interesting that he says he disagreed with every choice made. It's already clear Luke isn't going to be what we - or Rey - expects, but it sounds like it could be a really different version of the iconic hero.
