9. Where Was Lando Calrissian?

The Question: With Han Solo's recent demise and the rising threat of the First Order, where the hell was Lando Calrissian during all of this, and what was he busy doing?

The Likely Answer: Though The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi have made great pains to reunite fans with numerous familiar franchise legends, it's also important that the series doesn't blow its full wad too early and inundate fans with lazy nostalgia just for the sake of it.

Rian Johnson himself said that Lando simply was "not something that ever really had a place in the story." A little restraint isn't so bad every now and then, as much as some fans might crave as much nostalgia as can be squeezed on-screen.

To that end, Lando is probably being saved for Episode IX, and with both Han and Leia now being out of the running, while Luke will probably have a fairly small role, some more legacy blood will be most welcome.

In terms of an actual canon answer, the universe is a big place. That's probably it, really.
