Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 8 Big Questions We Have After The Trailer
3. How Does Snoke Capture Rey?
One of the trailer’s best shots shows a screaming Rey being forced to lean backwards, Matrix-style, as Supreme Leader Snoke watches on. It's clear he's the one who's causing her pain, but how did this situation even come about? Why would Rey be so careless as to get herself captured by the enemy?
Let's not forget that Rey is extremely proficient in the ways of the force - in Episode VII, she was able to control a Stormtrooper without much effort and with zero training - so it's not like she'd be easy to capture, especially by The First Order's goons. There has to be something else going on here.
The logical answer is that she wasn't captured, and rather, she's in front of Snoke because she wants to be - think of Luke in Return Of The Jedi, and how he willingly went before Vader and The Emperor, a decision that nearly cost him his life. Rey could be aiming to confront Snoke - or reason with him - and this could lead to Snoke lashing out.
Or, maybe there's a scene where the Resistance infiltrates Snoke's base, and this is the 'boss battle', so to speak. With the exception of Luke, there isn't anyone who's strong enough to face Snoke alone, making Rey the only person up for the task.
And here's another intriguing thought; who's going to save her? Will this be the moment where Kylo Ren defies his master and embraces the good within him? Rey definitely needs the help - and Kylo is strong enough to provide it.
