Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Every Reveal From EW's Cover Story
7. Holdo And Poe
Poe Dameron might be like a surrogate son to Leia, but in The Last Jedi he's got a new boss that he's forced to get along with. And not just any new boss, but a galaxy weirdo played by the great Laura Dern (capping off one hell of a year for the actress).
As Dern says to the magazine, her Vice Admiral Holdo has climbed the ladder of the Resistance amidst the chaos the galaxy finds itself in, and aims "to shake things up."
Suffice to say, then, that she and Poe do not see eye-to-eye. While they both learned from Leia - Holdo appears in the novel Leia, Princess Of Alderaan, set when Leia was a teenager - they do have a real difference in approach, and Oscar Isaac said:
"Even if something seems like it’s not the most heroic thing to do in the moment, thinking about the bigger picture is sometimes more important. That’s something he’s trying to wrap his mind around, but at the same time, with the Resistance being in such a precarious situation, he wants to do the right thing, and doesn’t want to just wait and let things happen.
"He doesn’t necessarily agree with the way Holdo sees the role of the Resistance in this particular moment.”
