Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker - 12 Biggest Unanswered Questions
4. Why Did All The Ships Show Up At The End But Not In The Last Jedi?
J.J. Abrams desperately reaches to give The Rise of Skywalker its own Avengers: Endgame moment at the end, by having Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) summon an impossibly large fleet of rebel ships to help the Resistance fight the Final Order.
In theory it's a neat moment, albeit one which doesn't really feel sufficiently established or earned by the movie, especially after The Last Jedi made it explicitly clear that the Resistance was a dwindling movement and even sympathetic parties weren't keen on risking their own lives for the cause.
Again it feels like Abrams favouring feeling over logic, and hoping the audience will be so swept up in the moment that they won't let their brain take command of their heart. Like so many of the questions on this list, the real answer is, again, "because movie."
