Star Wars: Why Game Of Thrones' Creators Should Make Knights Of The Old Republic

3. It's What A Lot Of Fans Want

Whenever the idea of a Star Wars spin-off comes up, along with the usual suspects like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Boba Fett, you'll usually find plenty of outcry for an Old Republic-set movie/trilogy/TV series etc, most recently seen when Rian Johnson's trilogy was announced. That's not to say every Star Wars fan wants it, but it's pretty clearly high up the wish list for many.

Of course, just because the fans want something doesn't make it the right choice, but this is one time where Lucasfilm should be prepared to listen to demand. It's an easy win with the audience - if done right, at least - which comes after something of a tumultuous period for the franchise, and that goes double when you add in the fact this really does seem like the best fit for Weiss and Benioff, and the one plenty of people do seemingly want them to tackle.

We Star Wars fans don't always know what's best for us - and certainly hardly ever agree - but this is one instance where, just maybe, the fans really do know best. It's a treasured bit of lore, which brings its own risks, and deserves a great new telling.
