Suicide Squad: 13 Theories That Were Utter Bull

8. The Movie Takes Place Before Batman V Superman

The Rumour: The movie won't follow on chronologically from Batman v Superman but instead take place before it.

How Much We Believed It: This is another that really could've gone in either direction: its core plot wasn't especially reliant on BvS, so it was believable enough, though the closer we got to release, the more likely it seemed from cast interviews that the film would indeed follow BvS. 5/10

The Truth: It's established in the movie's opening minutes that Suicide Squad takes place in the wake of Superman's demise, with the Squad being established as a means to combat any future metahumans who might not be quite as friendly as the Man of Steel.

Direct references are made to Superman's death, and so, aside from the flashback sequences, the bulk of the film takes place in the "present".
