Suicide Squad: 25 Biggest Questions Left By The Dumbest DCEU Movie Yet

16. Why Did They Bring Multiple Squads Of Soldiers?

The explicit purpose of the Suicide Squad is to have a team of expendables who can do the missions the government won't allow anyone else to do. But say you accept that - this is a world where gods/devils regularly pop in from the sky - then why did they also send along multiple helicopters full of soldiers to Midway City with them? It's not to monitor the inmates - that's the entire point of those neck bombs - and the way they're commanded by Flag suggests they're here for cover, but if you're going to bring in such military skill, why not just have them be the Task Force instead?

They're already in danger and, let's not forget that most of them wind up dying protecting their villainous wards, so it's not even like the government cares about their survival. Bringing the villains in seems entirely pointless.
