Suicide Squad: 8 Things Everybody Missed In The Trailer

4. Amanda Waller Is Assessing Deadshot

One thing we saw very little of in the new trailer is Viola Davis' Amanda Waller, the ruthless mastermind behind Task Force X. There's a brief moment at the start where she sets up the scheme (a scene that was seen in more detail in the Comic-Con footage), but after that leader duties are passed over to Rick Flag. Seeing as she'll likely end up as one of the movie's key antagonists this makes sense - it keeps a little twist as a surprise for the film itself (a rare change of pace for DC). However, that juicy steak dinner (there's a few odd parallels to The Matrix in here) isn't all we see of Davis. Later on in the trailer we see Deadshot showing off his impressive loading up skills (do I sense a montage?) while Ms. Waller stands quietly in the background, no doubt plotting how she can get this gun to work against his own self-interest. This doesn't on the face of it reveal all that much - obviously Waller will have checked on the team beforehand - but does point towards how we may be introduced to the various characters; we know from the First Look that Waller also visits Harley Quinn ("Are you the devil?"), so it's probable the start of the movie will be her physically going through and vetting the prospective squad members (perhaps even with cameos from some other characters who didn't make the cut).
