Up until very recently it looked like Zack Snyder was going to single handedly helm all of the DC Cinematic Universe, having set it up in Man Of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, then taking it to its natural conclusion with the two-part Justice League movies. Theres been reports that Warner Bros are looking for a female director for Wonder Woman, but the only other filmmaker whos been confirmed for their burgeoning new franchise has been David Ayer being firmly installed as the helmer of Suicide Squad. Which is definitely something to be excited about. Its an interesting choice, whilst also being one thats totally suited to the source material: Ayers most recent films include the Brad Pitt-starring war drama Fury and found footage police thriller End Of Watch with Jake Gyllenhaal. Prior to that he scripted the likes of Training Day, all of which have dealt with violent, dark themes and premises, and all of which have involved varying shades of morality. A guy who can shoot action and knows from anti-heroes? Who could be better?
