Sundance 2022: 20 Films You Need To Know About

8. Fire Of Love

Fire of Love
National Geographic Documentary Films

Fire of Love is a fascinating tribute to volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft, whose obsession with documenting and recording volcanoes ultimately led to their deaths at Japan's Mount Unzen in 1991.

Sara Dosa's deeply empathetic and richly rendered documentary is both an eye-wateringly nature documentary - containing much of the eye-popping footage the couple shot - and a heart-rending love story.

As a testament to the pursuit of one's passions, no matter the ultimately tragic outcome, this is riveting stuff.

Better yet, Fire of Love was acquired by National Geographic during the festival, so expect it to drop on Disney+ later this year, presumably with a push for next year's Best Documentary Feature Oscar.
