If you're one of the seven people in the Western hemisphere that haven't seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet and managed to miss the huge spoiler warning in the introduction of the article, then my heartfelt apologies to ruining this for you. However, for the vast majority of the rest of us, no onscreen death this year hit harder than the loss of everyone's favorite stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder. Harrison Ford slips back into his other signature role with ease, with the older and more grizzled Han Solo still brimming with the character's famous swagger and charisma. In an emotionally-charged confrontation with son Ben, Han pleads with him to drop the Kylo Ren moniker and abandon the Dark Side of the Force. For a brief moment it seems as though Ben Solo will return home to be reunited with his parents, but instead the despicable Kylo Ren impales his father with a lightsaber in one of the entire franchise's most powerful and shocking moments, causing one of cinema's most iconic characters to plummet to his demise.
