The Avengers 2: 5 Female Avengers We Don’t Want to See

1. Scarlet Witch

Rumored for a role in an Avengers sequel pretty much as soon as The Avengers was announced (along with her brother Quicksilver), the Scarlet Witch (who I am a big fan of by the way) would be THE absolute worst choice for an Avengers sequel. Firstly, she is a mutant. The Avengers and mutants, despite mixing in the comic books (although I don€™t think they ever should have) simply cannot and should not mix in the films. The Marvel superheroes who so far have appeared in The Avengers have had powers which can more or less be explained by science, and are more or less believable€ except for Thor, although he is from another universe. The mutants, though supposed to derive their powers from an X gene have completely unbelievable super powers (most of them at least) and should live in more of a fantasy universe than the Avengers which can more or less pretend it lives in our universe. Plus, I€™ve always thought, if there are thousands and thousands of mutants with super cool superpowers, doesn€™t that make characters like Iron Man, and especially Captain America€™s powers seem kind of boring in comparison. Added to the fact that there are already so many X Men films (that at least for now probably shouldn€™t be rebooted) and Marvel doesn€™t own the rights to the X Men (although lines are slightly fuzzy for characters as well known for being Avengers)€ the only realistic way to explain the Scarlet Witch is to create an entirely new back-story and pretend she isn€™t a mutant which is not cool. Plus, her dad is Magneto, one of the most well-known and iconic supervillians (or heroes, depending on what comics you are reading or films you are watching) and her superpowers are so great (she has the ability to alter reality) she can pretty much do whatever she wants, which would make her powers difficult (though not impossible) to contain and effectively show on screen. Can we just say a big fat NO to any mutants appearing in any of these films. Potentially great for an X Men sequel but terrible for The Avengers. There are plenty of other great, less unbelievable, cooler female Avengers out there. Who would you like to see in the films, and who do you hope never makes an appearance... (and more importantly, why am I right or wrong)? Sound off in the comments section...

I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
