The Batman: 10 Predictions For Where Matt Reeves Could Take The Franchise

4. Batman Versus The GCPD

The planned HBO Max series focusing on a Gotham City police detective will be released after The Batman and, as noted, take place during his first year as a vigilante. In "Year Two," the Dark Knight clearly has a relationship with Jim Gordon and the GCPD and must have helped them take down someone big in order to earn their trust and help.

However, there's also clearly some tension between the two sides if one altercation spotted in the teaser is any indication, and that could either be explored in a future movie or across the course of that TV series (assuming Pattinson ends up reprising the role of the Dark Knight there).

It's intriguing to think about what direction any sort of conflict between Batman and the GCPD could take, and with Gotham City's inhabitants viewing him as little more than a myth at this point, Batman being "Wanted" by the authorities would bring the hero into the public eye in a very unexpected way.

As tension between the police and Batman hasn't ever really been touched on before now on screen, this again seems like a sensible place for Reeves to take the franchise on film or television.
