The Batman: 10 Things Ben Affleck Must Get Right

8. Actual Detective Work

Ben Affleck Batman
DC Comics

This is simply a must have. Batman was played like a fiddle by Lex Luthor in BvS and the Nolan films didn’t do much to show the worlds greatest detective in action, bar an odd and logic breaking forensics scene. The Arkham games utitlised Batman’s impressive detective skills to great length, in particular the Riddler’s challenged scattered throughout the sprawling cityscape showcasing the Dark Knight’s brains as well as his brawn.

Affleck has plenty of experience with taught, tense thrillers and this signature stamp of his will serve the world of the Dark Knight perfectly. It’s about time we were gripped by a Batman attempting to solve complex crime scenes – he can’t always beat his way to success (though BvS certainly made a case for it). Some of the greatest Batman storylines focus on a murder mystery – in particular the Long Halloween, a storyline that keeps both the reader and titular hero in the dark until a third of the way through.

This is to be expected from Affleck and is well within his wheelhouse.
