The Batman: 8 Reasons You Should Be Concerned Affleck Quit

3. Where Is The Overall Shared Universe Model?

Sure, comparing the DCEU to the MCU is a dangerous game if you don't want to be called worse than Hitler online, but it's an easy comparison and one that was encouraged by Warner Bros and DC the minute they decided to create their own shared universe. And the MCU offers a lot of positive things that their competitor should have adopted well before they even launched the DCEU.

The biggest of those lessons should have been found in Marvel's preparation. It might seem fanciful that Kevin Feige's claim about plotting out the entire MCU years and year ago was ever true, but the product has the kind of confidence and swagger that makes the claim believable. We've seen seeds planted a long time ago come to fruition, and we've seen plans play out long-form successfully.

Why then was The Batman not fully sculpted before it was announced? Why did its announcement feel like an appendage to the mainline Justice League led DCEU? In short, why didn't Warner Bros do more to plan their future steps out precisely earlier than now?

Should their frivolous hiring and unhiring of directors (remember, this isn't the first time a DCEU director has gone?) be happening when they should be so committed to a tight plan? No. Should it worry anyone for the way they're guiding the DCEU generally? Oh, hell yes.
