The Batman Sequel: 10 Possible Villains (And Who Should Play Them)
5. Poison Ivy – Anya Taylor-Joy
Undeniably talented and universally adored, Anya Taylor-Joy is one of Hollywood’s brightest up-and-coming stars, effortlessly shining in every role she takes. Although Anya is no stranger to the superhero sphere - having starred in The New Mutants - many would be forgiven for overlooking the film’s somewhat forgettable existence.
With Marvel’s box ticked, one can’t help but feel that someone with her ability and CV would be better suited to DC’s favourite eco-warrior Poison Ivy. The bilingual actress has already showcased a plethora of equally atypical and abnormal characters that coincide with Poison Ivy’s peculiar nature and motives, and with Matt Reeves’ Gotham currently engulfed in water, the path is clear for another element to enter the fray and engulf the already drowned and desolate city.
A frequent collaborator of horror visionary Robert Eggers’, the 26-year-old has great experience in the field of psychological thrillers at already such a young age. With that in mind, Taylor-Joy can provide scares alongside the character’s trademark seduction in a role Uma Thurman brought to life many years ago.
The environmental enchantress is indeed beautiful, but behind her beauty lies an individual who will stop at nothing to attain ecological conservation, regardless of how many lives she takes in the process. The pheromones from her plant life make for a deadly asset at her disposal, and there is more than enough room for the anti-heroine to make herself at home.
