The Best Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked

12. Die Another Day: North Korea

Daniel Craig Casino Royale

Die Another Day is the most hated Bond film ever made and it's certainly one of the worst. One of the things that makes it so awful is that it's such a painfully frustrating viewing; the opening is genuinely great and then the film just descends into utter stupidity.

In this opening, there's a very entertaining and well-done chase scene on some hovercrafts in North Korea. It's a fabulous set-piece already, but what makes it even better is that it doesn't end with Bond getting away. He's captured and, over the next 14 months (as shown in the title sequence), he's tortured and imprisoned.

Given how used we are to seeing Bond win all the time, it was so nice to see this more vulnerable side to him and this was a refreshingly dark story development. Unfortunately, once Bond is returned to MI6, the film goes downhill from that point onwards. Still, at least there was 25 minutes of a great Bond film in there.
