15 Greatest Character Names In American Film History
9. Mason Storm ("Hard To Kill")
Steven Seagal is a guy with an impressive resume of memorable character-names: Nico Toscani, Casey Ryback, Jonathan Cold, Travis Hunter, Commander Marshall Lawson, etc. But his greatest feat can be none other than Mason Storm of the film "Hard to Kill". Bruce Malmuth's film follows Seagal's dedicated cop investigating political corruption in Los Angeles. Corrupted policemen proceed to murder Seagal's innocent family. They leave Seagal to die, as well, but underestimate his failure to succumb to his seemingly fatal injuries. Years later Seagal returns to avenge the crimes committed against his family and the expected havoc ensues. The use of Mason as a first name is nothing short of brilliant. It's a name that sounds real masculine, but it also reminds us of the brilliant and undefeatable defense attorney Perry Mason (known from the long running TV-show of the same name). Every surname that evokes the feeling of severe weather might come into use when dealing with hard men like this. And no other kind of weather condition comes close to the seriousness of Storm (except perhaps a Tornado). But Mason Tornado doesn't cling that well, does it?
