The Last House on the Left remake finds it's director

lasthouseontheleft.jpgSadly it would seem that the remake to Wes Craven's first feature film The Last House on the Left is still being made as Variety report that a director has been found for the flick. Dennis Iliadis is their man for what will be his first Hollywood movie. I had hoped the remake had been scrapped as we hadn't heard anything on the movie since August when the film was greenlit by Rogue Pictures. Now though, the word is the film will begin production early next year. From the trade...
Craven said the remake will retain the spirit of the original, about killers who inadvertently seek refuge with the parents of one of their victims, but aim for a more realistic tone. He said part of the reason he's revisiting earlier films is that those are ones over which he had more ownership control, and partly it's because he figured, "Why not?"
Now, let me explain what Wes Craven means... The reason he is quite happy for his films to be re-made is that he can get a nice sum of money for doing zero work. This is the reason why he allowed his 1970's movie The Hills Have Eyes to be remade recently and it's the reason why The Last House on the Left and probably more of his films will be remade in the future. I'm not judging him for it... it's just a fact.
