Director Peyton Reed has done a solid job with the first two Ant-Man movies, and he's currently in production on a third, which is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2023.

But he almost joined the MCU a year earlier than he eventually did, and with another, completely different property to boot: the Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Reed was one of Feige and Marvel Studios' top candidates to helm that first Guardians movie, but when James Gunn's take won out, Reed was forced to wait a little longer for his big superhero moment.

As was the case with Cumberbatch missing out on Malekith, it's hard to complain at how things panned out here.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
