The Predator: 7 Big Questions We’re Left With

2. Will We Ever Find Out What Happened To Dutch?

While The Predator did a great job of paying tribute to the first two movies in the franchise, it was still missing one vital detail: Arnold Schwarzenegger. The legendary actor portrayed Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer in the 1987 original. Since defeating the alien hunter, Dutch's whereabouts have remained a mystery, with the Predator 2 novelisation revealing that he had escaped the hospital and disappeared.

This is one problem with every Predator sequel. Schwarzenegger played a huge part in the first film's success, and Dutch was an intriguing protagonist who had a lot more to offer - so whenever there is news of a new Predator film, fans will naturally wonder if this is the one that he will make his triumphant return in.

Unfortunately, Arnie turned down the chance to reprise the iconic role in The Predator because it wasn't substantial enough, and given what the film's original ending was supposed to be, that is a darn shame. If the stars had aligned, this would have finally given us the answer to an age-old question, shedding some light on what happened to this much-loved character after the 1987 Val Verde incident.
