21. Captain America: The First Avenger - That Powerful Ending

Captain America: The First Avenger is an important MCU film in terms of the story, but it doesn't actually hold up that well on repeat viewings and feels pretty formulaic overall. Still, it does get quite a few things right, since the cast is very solid, the action sequences have plenty of punch and the story can be pretty interesting.

The biggest knockout blow that the film delivers comes in the form of its excellent ending. After a terrific finale that ends with Steve Rogers apparently sacrificing himself, he awakens in the 2010s; he's been frozen in the ice for nearly 70 years and pretty much everything he knew and loved is gone.

It's a really poignant and moving conclusion. Rogers saved everyone from Red Skull's horrible schemes but paid a terrible price in the process, also leaving behind his love interest, Peggy Carter.
