The Spectacular Spider-Man: 10 Reasons It's Already Doomed

7. It€™s Not Going To Even Try Building To Infinity War

Phase 1 of the MCU was setting up individual heroes ready for them to team up. Phase 2 was, in much less overt terms, disassembling the status quo ready for Ultron. And Phase 3 will, obviously, build up to the epic showdown against an Infinity Gauntlet wielding Thanos. Well, aside for what is currently the most talked about film of that lot, which is going to be dancing around doing its own thing. You see, because Sony are only set to make any box office profit from films they release (i.e. Spider-Man movies), they're predominantly concerned with setting up more Spider-Man movies (such as The Sinister Six), with the hero simply heading over to the MCU side of things when it's Avengers time. Now obviously Guardians Of The Galaxy was pretty standalone, but it still had some forward momentum with the Infinity Stone MacGuffin. With Spider-Man it'll be more tangential momentum, with the any future build up not having any relevance to the other Marvel movies. There'll probably be a couple of easter eggs hidden in there for the fans to go crazy over, but none of it will be as impactful as, say, the destruction of S.H.I.E.L.D. in The Winter Soldier, which will be felt heavily in Age Of Ultron. Of course, this could all lead to a very successful offshoot that eventually becomes worked into the main Universe, but that's probably putting too much faith in Sony.
